Tour Description

Discover more about this tour

Don’t blame us if after our walking tour of the Latin Quarter, you decide to follow in the footsteps of writers like Hemingway and Fitzgerald and move here! Join us as we explore this charming and vibrant neighborhood.

Our 2.5-hour tour of the Latin Quarter starts at the Notre Dame Cathedral and takes you on a journey through the people and events that have made this area so iconic. We keep our tours small—no more than 8 visitors per group—so our certified guides can provide you with a personalized experience.

Join us for an exploration of the neighborhood’s multi-layered history, including its roots in ancient Rome. You’ll dive into its academic legacy and culture of progressive thought with visits to the world-famous Sorbonne University and Pantheon; visit the filming locations of some of your favorite movies (like Before Sunset); browse the stacks of the iconic Shakespeare & Co; and enjoy a few chapters in the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens. And who knows? Maybe by the end of the tour, you’ll be inspired to write your own novel. Just remember to dedicate it to us.

Highlights Generally Include:

Pantheon, where Voltaire and Victor Hugo are buried

Luxembourg Gardens, best ice cream carts in Paris

Sorbonne University, where the geniuses hang out

Shakespeare & Co, where Before Sunset begins

Ferit was an incredible guide. We got lost and detoured because of an Olympic event, and Ferit went out of his way to call us, and help us eventually catch up to to the group. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable.

This was a great little tour and our guide provided some fantastic information about the cathedral and the area. He even went out of his way to show us how to use the metro and how to buy our train tickets! It's alot of walking, but worth it.

Alex was a great tour guide. Having grown up in this area and with his history background was a bonus for giving us extra details about the area. I was looking for a tour that included the neighborhood feel, and was pleasantly surprised at all it offered. I would definitely recommend this tour and our tour guide. We walked for about 2.5 hours, so be ready to hit the road.

Our family recently visited Paris and we booked two half day tours with Babylon. Both were fantastic. Louvre Must see masterpieces. Lucia was our guide - she was personable and so knowledgeable. The tour only goes in the public spaces for the Louvre, but Lucia knew the best way to navigate the buildings and we were able to see so much more than we would have simply on our own. She kept our thirteen year old daughter engaged. We did a fair amount of walking, but it was easy. Notre Dame and Latin Qtr - Lilly was our guide, and, again we were blessed. Lilly was wonderful and we learned so much about the cathedral and the Latin quarter. A good bit of walking but so worth it! Our daughter was a little less thrilled with the Latin Qtr, but she has not studied Hemingway, Joyce, Fitzgerald yet. In the coming years, I know she will value this experience.

We booked the small group tour. It turned out we were the only ones for that day. The guide "Lilly" was amazing. Her depth of knowledge seemed endless. She spoke perfect English which made the trip even more enjoyable. She took us to out of the way special places in the Latin quarter. This tour was well worth every penny and is easily 5 stars. We highly recommend the small group tours, they are very personal.

Melissa was awesome! Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate about France! Thank you for sparking our curiosity to learn even more about Paris! Great time we'll spent.

My husband and I did two of the walking tours in one day. Both were to include no more than five people. On each tour, my husband and I were the only participants. The first tour was with Filipa around the Latin Quarter and surrounding area of Paris. Filipa is very knowledgable about the area and such a nice person. Our second tour was of the highlights of the Louvre with Amanda. She, too, was very knowledgable about the history of the Louvre, as well as the artwork. I highly recommend Babylon Tours.

I traveled to Paris in April and booked a Tour of the Louvre and a walking tour of the Latin Quarter with Babylon Tours. The company exceeded my expectations! The guides were extremely knowledgeable, fun, flexible with requests and made the overall experience fantastic. I would highly recommend booking with them and will definitely do so in the future on my return!

We did the Latin Quarter tour with A.J. and I'll have to say it was amazing!! my girlfriend and I really enjoyed visiting Sorbonne, Luxemburg Garden, Pantheon and all those really narrow streets with him. The story telling was great, and we really felt the passion he had for this city and for taking ppl to visit it. We as well did the museum hop, which was one of the best ideas ever, since we managed to see the Louvre (most popular museum in the world) and Orsay (best impressionist art collection) all in the same visit and with a very nice timing and deliver of info. I do recommend Babylon Tours for their passion for Paris.

The Latin Quarter is really the heart and soul of Paris. I've lived in Paris for a while now, but really rediscovered this beautiful area thanks to an amazing tour. Alex, the guide, revived major historical events and had lots of anecdotes about the artists and writers who lived in the "quartier Latin". He made history fun and lively. We got to follow in Hemingway's footsteps along rue Cardinal Lemoine to the Jardin du Luxembourg. We visited the gorgeous Eglise Sainte Genevieve and later ended our tour in the most lovely and quaint little bookshop in Paris, Shakespeare and Co. It was just fantastic ! This tour is a must-do !
