Rijksmuseum guide weaves stories, history and art

Cecile was fantastic over our roughly two hour tour! She tailored our visit to kids’ interests. She wove in period history as well as helpful insights about the art that we would never have gleaned on our own. Her set-up was extremely good and we would follow themes from room to room. Outstanding!

Best way to enjoy the museum

Cecile was a wonderful guide! Knowledgeable and personable. Best way to enjoy an art museum is with someone who can tell stories of the history, politics, and cultural context of the time — Cecile did that well!Note, the museum has a lot of stairs. Not the most accessible for everyone, please be forewarned.

You want Anna for your Reijksmuseum tour!

Had a great tour conducted by Anna- she was informative and professional, and clearly knows what she is showing. Anna introduced herself and shared her interesting life story. She was also proactive in locating group members who were late, and inquired about everyone's comfort. And warned us not to drink water in certain galleries. Very open to questions and helping group members think through the art in a new way. Highly recommend Anna!

Kudos to Paola P - tour guide extraordinaire!

Paola elevated the whole experience to such a higher level than we would have experienced without her expert guidance. The museum is so extensive we surely would have quickly gotten lost and missed some highlights. Paola is truly an expert in the art history field, and beyond that she was so warm, engaging and pleasant the whole tour was a great delight.

Clare is an excellent guide.

Clare made us feel as though we were wandering through her private living-room art gallery. She simplified the vast Rijksmuseum to astute jewel-like encounters with the best art. A treat. So many thanks.

Excellent Rijksmuseum Tour in English

Josje was an exceptional tour guide and is very knowledgeable not only about the artwork, but the symbolism in each painting and history of the museum. She was thoughtful and kind when I let her know that I was recovering from an automobile accident. I needed an elevator and frequently sat down. She always included me in the conversation and showing additional pictures on her tablet.Overall we were very pleased with the tour and especially Josje!

I’m from NY via Paris and traveled to Amsterdam with friends and family. We booked a guide for the Rijks Museum. We had Clare who was extremely knowledgeable, easy to listen to and full of fun details and back stories on both Rembrandt and Van Gogh. It was an excellent experience and never dull!
