Paris is known for being beautiful and romantic, but there’s also a lot of history to find, and some things aren’t always so pleasant. There are interesting and unique attractions for sure, and they will definitely make you remember what you saw. For example: The Paris Catacombs. It’s a truly fascinating but grim tourist attraction. It goes on for miles and miles. Nobody really knows exactly how far it goes for sure, and the endless winding tunnels house thousands of bones. There are surely thousands of stories to be told from this place. It’s a morbid attraction but people do tend to visit often. It’s an interesting place to learn about the history of Paris. They are often closed, so make sure to check ahead of time so you can see it for all of its uniqueness. The street called Rue Mouffetard is lovely. It’s filled with cafes, shops, and a great outdoor market. It’s such a wonderful street to go wandering around on or just sit in front of a case and watch life go by you. It’s a fun place to people watch. Make sure to check out the Place de la Caontrescarpe where artists for decades spend their time. There are many inexpensive restaurants here to enjoy as well.
Another artistic center is called Montmartre. There are so many art and fun shops to find, and you will see lots of artists doing their work right in front of you on the street. It is just magical and fun to watch. It’s a nice place to wander around in. There is a great church that offers lovely views of the city, and a nice place to have lunch. After you are finished wandering, you can head into the “seedy” district of Paris. This is where you can watch a show like Moulin Rouge, or just wander some more and witness the interesting mix of tourists and locals awkwardly gazing into all of the sex shops around. You can take a train ride eats of the city center to visit Paris’ most famous graveyard. You can find famous celebrities buried here like Honore de Balzac, Antonio de La Gandara, Sarah Bernhardt, Frederic Chopin, Jim Morrison, Gertrude Stein, Edith Piaf, Camille Pissarro, and Oscar Wilde. It’s beautiful and peaceful there if you can handle cemeteries. Paris has lots of fun attractions as well as historical ones that you should try to see while on your trip. Enjoy all that this lovely city has to offer.
