Itinerary

  • Stops generally include but are not limited to:
  • Liverpool Street Station— begin your tour at Liverpool Street Station, a major transport hub with deep historical significance. Once the arrival point for Jewish refugees fleeing persecution in the 19th and 20th centuries, it now serves as a gateway to the ever-evolving East End.
  • Petticoat Lane Market— established over 400 years ago by French Huguenots, this famous market got its name from the traders who once sold petticoats and lace. Today, it remains one of London's busiest street markets, offering a mix of fashion, textiles, and bargain finds.
  • Artillery Passage — step into 17th-century London as you explore this well-preserved passageway. Its narrow lanes, historic courtyards, and atmospheric alleys provide a rare glimpse into what inner-city London once looked like.
  • Old Spitalfields Market — one of London's finest surviving Victorian market halls, Spitalfields Market was built in the 1800s and later transformed into a lively shopping and dining hub.
  • Truman Brewery— a centerpiece of East London's industrial past, the Old Truman Brewery was once one of the world's largest breweries. Today, it has been repurposed as a creative space, housing art galleries, street markets, and pop-up exhibitions.
  • Whitechapel — walk through Whitechapel, infamous for the Jack the Ripper murders of the late 1880s. This district was once the heart of London's working-class and immigrant communities. 10 minutes
  • Brick Lane— the heart of East London's Street art scene, Brick Lane is covered in ever-changing murals by world-renowned artists. This street has long been a center of immigration, from French Huguenots to Bangladeshi communities, shaping its unique character. Alongside the artwork, Brick Lane is famous for its curry houses, vintage markets, and independent shops. 10 minutes
  • Shoreditch High Street — end your tour on Shoreditch High Street, once the main thoroughfare of London's first theater district in Shakespeare's time. Today, it's home to trendy bars, cutting-edge galleries, and some of the best street art in the city. 10 minutes

An exceptional experience

We spent 3 days touring London and this was the best part of our visit. Wesley was not just your average guide giving us a canned tour. He was a true expert on the art and artists of the East End. The art was amazing and the history of the street art was fascinating. Wesley was also very friendly and personable. We really enjoyed the Tate Modern museum the next day. This was better!

A perfect combo of new & old on 1 tour!

We absolutely loved this tour of the East End, with the perfect mixture of historical information (from the Huguenots to the Jewish community to the current Bangladeshi community), while taking in the incredible modern street art! Becky was so knowledgeable, and really knew her history & art - pointing out the smallest art (which we’d walked right by multiple times) to some amazing large murals. She made Spitalfields and Shoreditch really come alive for us! Highly recommend this tour, and especially Becky as your guide!

Wonderful chance to explore an area undergoing change

Really enjoyed the chance to explore the area and learn the history as well see the surprising street art. We wanted the chance to understand East London since this was an area we hadn’t yet explored on our previous trips. We covered all of the areas we were curious about Spitalfields, Brick Lane, Shoreditch), leaving a clear impression of where we might return for further exploration. Having a guide meant we not only saw the street art (and some out of the way pieces) but were better able to place it in historical context. Beckey was wonderful! Enthusiastic, interesting and...

Easy pick-up sight near the underground. Our guide, Becky, did a fantastic job of pointing out street art and her knowledge of the area's history made this a highlight of our time in London. We took many fascinating pictures and have great memories of the East End. Becky couldn't have been more personable, enthusiastic, and informative. We highly recommend this offbeat tour!

Great tour guide!

Jake was an amazing tour guide! We were lucky to only have a few people on this tour, so we were able to ask a lot of questions. He gave us so much more than an art tour! He’s a foodie, and a Londoner himself. We highly recommend this tour!
