Our guide, Heath, was friendly and knowledgeable. He provided a brief history of the development of different phases and schools of art that helped us appreciate all the more the wonderful permanent collection at the Art Institute. Even if you've visited the Institute before, as I had many times, the guided tour is well worth it. Highly recommend.

Spiro D was the best! He was funny and engaging. He elicited questions and made information understandable. He has a great range of knowledge, and he included social, political, and economic history as well as art history. He gave some art theory which was over my head, but I’m glad he did. Maybe I soaked up a little of it! Everyone (6 of us) enjoyed his tour and would search him out in the future!

My group of 4 met Spiro outside the Chicago Institute of Art on Thursday 11 July at 1030. It was the second time my wife and I had taken a docent guided tour of the Institute. Spiro is by far the most inspiring, interesting, informative and impactful docent we’ve ever met, including other museums and venues. We absolutely recommend this tour and especially with Spiro!

The art, the space, the tour guide: the holy trinity of a contemporary art institute tour! Spiro brought the installations to life. His passion, personal stories and deep knowledge helped us to think entirely differently about the art on display. This was, by far, the very best art gallery experience I’ve had. Mandie introduced us to the Art Institute of Chicago and gave us an awesome overview of everything available to see at this amazing place. The collection is truly world class, bar none!!!She is so knowledgeable and was very interested in customizing the tour to the likes of the people in the tour group. Great tour, Spiro was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. If you want to see the best of the Art Institute and learn not only the history but also some context about the period of time then you will thoroughly enjoy this tour. Obviously we lucked out by having Spiro guide us around but try to go on his tour if possible.

Spiro (and hence the tour) was wonderful beyond belief. Words fail me. He was incredibly knowledgeable, articulate, charming and engaging. The time flew. And the Art Institute more than lived up to its reputation. After the tour ended we spent another 2 hours (!) wandering around the museum.

Heath gave an incredible tour of the Art Institute. Entertaining without being cheesy. Expertly balanced the depth on individual pieces & artists while allowing time to hit all major aspects of the Museum. Gave us a deeper appreciation of art and the Art Institute.
